Work is well underway on Downtown Milton’s newest mural on a privately-owned wall at the Spice o’ Life parkette at Main & Charles Street! This mural was commissioned by the Downtown Milton Business Improvement Area in response to significant wall repairs by the property owner as well as the deterioration and peeling over time of the previous painting. Arts Milton and STEPS Public Art are partners in the project.

Omar (Oms) Hopkinson, a Milton-based artist, creator and artistic collaborator, is the lead artist for the new mural. Since mid-September, he has been bringing his design concept to life on the two-storey wall. Key themes driving the mural design include the past and present of Milton, our downtown, vibrant, colourful imagery and diversity. The project is in conjunction with Milton Culture Days presented by Arts Milton. So if you are downtown over the coming weeks, be sure to stop by the Spice o’ Life parkette to check out the artwork’s progress see Omar, the artist assistants and the wall repair crews hard at work.

We sincerely thank those involved in helping to support and promote public art in Downtown Milton. Thank you to Arts Milton, STEPS Public Art, the Government of Canada, the Town of Milton, the Milton Historical Society, the Office of Adam van Koeverden, Bell, SG Hair Design, Bud’s Cannabis Store, Bergsma’s Paint & Décor and Total Skin and Body Spa.
