The Mayor and Councillors’ New Year’s Day Levee takes place on January 1, 2020 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Milton Town Hall. The event continues the tradition with conversation and refreshments to kick off the year. The tradition of the New Year’s Levee dates back to 1646 when the governor of New France hosted the event to wish the citizens a Happy New Year and inform them of important events in France. The celebration continues in municipalities across Canada.
