Special Events Coordinator (Intern)

Temporary position, July & August 2026, 35 hours per week

Start Date: Monday, July 6, 2026

The Downtown Milton Business Improvement Area is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled candidate for the position of Special Events Coordinator (Intern). Through this opportunity, you will be an active member of the planning team for community events in Downtown Milton. You will support the planning and execution of Downtown Milton events. You will gain hands-on event planning experience while helping to support local businesses and build community spirit.

Responsibilities:
• Contribute to planning documents, schedules, templates, contact lists and reports.
• Participate in regular meetings with the event planning team.
• Support with logistics, vendor registration, supplier management, volunteer coordination.
• Write content for the website, newsletters, social media, program and other materials.
• Visit downtown businesses to engage them in events (registration, inquiries, logistics).

Position requirements:
• Enrolled in or completed post-secondary education in event management, marketing, communications, business or a related field
• Between 15 and 30 years old and meets the requirements of the Canada Summer Jobs program (see full program details: https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/funding/canada-summer-jobs/youth/plan.html)
• Event management experience
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Exceptional leadership skills and a collaborative team player
• Outgoing and confident with an ability to learn quickly
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• A keen interest in community-based organizations and supporting small businesses
• Flexible, self-motivated and eager to lead and complete a wide variety of tasks

Hours and Compensation:
Weekdays (Monday to Friday), 35 hours per week, July & August 2026.
Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required for events.
Work location is 251 Main St. E, suite 103. Compensation is $17.60 per hour.
