This small cottage was built in 1856 for a man named Absalom Bell. In 1874, James and Jane McKindsey bought the house, and it later belonged to their son, George. George McKindsey was an important businessman in Milton. He became the first Deputy Sheriff of Halton County in 1858 and later became a member of the Canadian Senate in 1884, where he served for 17 years until he died in 1901.
