During this 1 hour 15 min workshop your children will have the opportunity to learn what mindfulness is and practice through their senses and presence.
Melissa will guide the children in meditation exploring and working with each one of the elements, Earth, Fire, Water, and Air. By the end of this workshop your child will learn the tool of Mindfulness, which is all about paying attention to what is happening in the present moment. It may be what they are feeling, hearing, or anything else they notice. It is not about clearing the mind, but more of an honest and kind look at what they are experiencing at the moment. Through this practice it can help them to build confidence, cope with stress, relate to uncomfortable/challenging moments, and develop a connection with themselves.
The first 15mins is an opportunity for parents to meet Melissa and settle the children in. After which parents can either head out for an hour of child free time, or wait in the reading room at Nature’s Spirit for the event to end.
